Dear Friends,
The blessed season of Christmas is once again upon us. In spite of the unsettling economic and
political situation in our country, we are called to rejoice in the awesomeness of our God who came to
us 2000 years ago as an innocent little child in the womb of a pregnant, unwed mother.
The Mary Weslin Home for Pregnant, Unwed Mothers in Colorado Springs is still in transition.
The young lady we thought was moving in decided to stay with her family during her pregnancy -
which is best, of course. No one is better suited than family to help when a young lady is in a crisis
pregnancy. We are still striving to be available for pregnant, unwed mothers in the Colorado Springs
area. We continue to keep in touch and counsel "Anne", our young mom whose baby will be nine
months old this month.
On the political scene, we're sure you've heard about the so called "Freedom of Choice Act" (FOCA). Our radical pro-abortion President-Elect Obama promised Planned Parenthood that the first thing he would do as President would be to sign the "Freedom of Choice Act". This act is a terrible piece of legislation that would establish the right to abortion as a fundamental right (like the right to free speech) and wipe away every restriction on abortion nationwide. It will eradicate state and federal abortion laws that the majority of Americans support and prevent states from enacting similar protective measures in the future.
FOCA would "not require" a doctor to perform abortions, and in effect allow for medical
technicians and nurses to freely perform abortions. This fact in itself would increase abortions with
almost no restrictions. FOCA also would override any existing requirements for parental consent, or
any restrictions whatsoever on abortion, making "Abortion-on-Demand" the law of the land.
We pro-lifers must do all we can to fight this act so that it doesn't destroy everything we've worked for as we've tried to chip away at the destruction of life that Roe v. Wade has allowed. We urge all of you to contact your legislators, telling them to vote NO on FOCA. Also, read the expert analysis of the act by Americans United for Life (AUL) at: http://www.FightFOCA.com. Then please sign the petition on that website showing your opposition to FOCA. Do it today - we have no time to spare. If you do not have Internet access and can mail your petition to:
